Latin with Magistra Combs

Latin was the mother tongue of western civilization

from classical times through the Renaissance, coming as close  to a universal language as we ever have.  Why study a "dead" language?  Well, because it is actually very much alive.  Knowledge of Latin allows access to some of the greatest, "living" texts of all time.  But Latin is also an unparalleled academic discipline for the skills it imparts along the way.  As an inflected language, Latin builds logical, critical thinking skills; develops a strong command of English grammar; and creates intentional writers.  As the mother Romance language, Latin dramatically expands English vocabulary and allows easy acquisition of the modern languages such as Spanish and French.

What is an "inflected" language?  Why is studying an inflected language particularly beneficial?
